Death Penalty Right or Wrong essays The issue of death penalty is one which has been long debated in the United States. Various anti-death penalty arguments have been brought forward proclaiming death penalty as wrong and brutal. The anti death-penalty movement claims that there is a very high risk of execution of the innocent. They apparently seem to ignore that in the process of saving very few exceptions, they are propagating to let all murderers get away with their crime. Moreover, the opponents of death penalty also claim that if the end result of murder and execution both is the death of an individual, then both are equally wrong and brutal. What they, in other words, are saying that murder and execution are one and the same thing since the end result of both is the same. Seemingly pathetic argument since no one can say that a man making love to a woman is equal to a man having sex with a woman against her wishes. Is it possible to equate Death penalty is something which is required for the safety of the nation. By executing murderers, what one is doing is ensuring that these people are incapable of murdering again and taking more innocent lives. So in effect, death penalty is saving the lives of those who might be at risk. Moreover, the death penalty also acts as a fear factor for potential murderers who do not murder because of their fear of execution. Once again, this results in saving the lives of those who could have been potential "If we execute murderers and there is in fact no deterrent effect, we have killed a bunch of murderers. If we fail to execute murderers, and doing so would in fact have deterred other murders, we have allowed the killing of a bunch of innocent victims. I would much rather risk the former.
